Mark Rust Family Show – July 19th at Trout Ponds
June 24th, 2014Mark Rust, a multi-talented singer & musician from Woodstock, NY, will perform a show for families at Trout Ponds Park on Saturday July 19th at 6pm. If rain, the show will take place under the pavilion.
Mark’s show for families “America’s Musical Traditions,” is a fun collection of songs on a variety of instruments including guitar, banjo, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, and spoons. The audience is involved in some fun way on every tune. The show will be entertaining and educational for all ages.
In addition, Mark will hand out spoons and teach everyone how to hold & play the spoons. Anyone can do it! Special tricks & techniques taught to those who can already play. Then everyone will play along to some fun fiddle tunes, ending with a great group spoons solo.
Mark will also teach & lead families in a couple traditional American country dances for all ages that require no experience. These dances, such as the “Virginia Reel” and “Patty Cake Polka” are fun & easy to learn.
Mark starred in the Broadway Musical Hit Pump Boys & Dinettes, has appeared in People Magazine performing on stage with Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul & Mary, and has been a featured guest on the Phil Donahue Show. He has released several recordings including “Home Fires” featuring Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) and Jay Ungar (PBS Civil War series), “Legacy” with songs of family & growing up, and his most recent CD “Live at the Ithaca Festival.” Mark has been nominated for a Campus Entertainer of the Year Award in Family & Children Programs by the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA).
