News From the Library

The “pennies for the library” campaign has been underway for about two months now and the board of directors would like to thank everyone who has donated so far.  The

Current total of donations is around 500.00 and we hope that keeps increasing.  We would also like to thank everyone who helped make the annual book sale a success.

This year’s sale was one of the most successful in recent years, bringing in about 700.00.

And now for the big news………..

At the August meeting, the board of directors, after hearing from several concerned citizens, voted to proceed with fundraising for the library building project.  This project, at an estimated cost of 250,000 – 300,000 dollars, will make the library handicapped accessible and provide more space, something the library needs badly.  Through federal, state, local and private grants, the library is hoping to raise at least half the money needed for this project.  The other half of the money will come through donations and fundraisers so watch this space for upcoming events.  The first fundraiser is a silent auction on a painting by local artist Carrie Tornatore.  The painting, which shows a beautiful scene of the Trout Ponds, can be seen and bid on at the library.

Again, the board of directors would like to thank everyone who has helped so far and we are counting on our patrons to make the building project a success also.  Keep those pennies coming!
