Southern Tier Solar Works Presentation Tuesday October 28th at 7pm in the Noble Room

Care about the climate? want to declare your independence and fix your electric rate for decades with a home    solar array, all without upfront costs?
If so, join us for a workshop from Southern Tier Solar Works, a program of the Binghamton Regional              Sustainability Coalition on Tuesday, October 28, 7pm, in the Noble Room
of the Newark Valley Village hall. You will also learn about how you can get a free or reduced cost home energy assessment through NYSERDA's Green Jobs Green New York Program.
State and federal incentives will never be higher, so now's the time to get informed and decide.

Statewide Preparedness Day training at SUNY Broome – Sat Sept 27th 11AM

Hello,

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Senator Tom Libous, Assembly Member Cliff Crouch, Assembly Member Donna Lupardo, Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Binghamton Mayor Rich David invite you to participate in a Statewide Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Day this Saturday.   The Southern Tier training will be held on:

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014

11:00 AM

At

SUNY Broome

Baldwin Gym

907 Upper Front Street

Binghamton, NY 13905

Doors Open at 10am

The program seeks to provide citizens with the tools and resources to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

Each family that attends will receive a NYS Disaster Preparedness Backpack containing the following:

–          AM/FM pocket radio with batteries

–          Regular flashlight

–          Plastic drop cloth

–          Light stick

–          (2) D Batteries

–          First Aid Kit

–          Face mask

–          Safety goggles

–          (6) packs of drinking water

–          (6) food bars

–          Emergency blanket

–          Duct tape

–          Work gloves

–          Water bottle

The state training and backpacks will help New Yorkers be the most-trained and best-prepared citizens in the country.

 

To register for the training, please go to: http://prepare.ny.gov/training-events .  Click on the Register box next to the SUNY Broome event listed and fill out the short registration form.  At the end of the form choose the Broome location from the drop down menu and click submit. 

This event is open to the public, but everyone must register to attend and show ID at check-in.

Parents and Teens (6th grade and up) are invited to attend this presentation on the Heroin epidemic. The Upstate Poison Center will present basic information to help explain the negative influence of Heroin on our body, mind and in our society. Additionally, a panel of local speakers will present information relevant to their daily interaction with Heroin and it’s influence in our community. Attend this seminar to help open the door for communication with your children about drugs.

Pizza, drinks and dessert will be provided. FREE!!

    We hope you find what you are searching for in this electronic view of our rural unique Village. Our one thousand fifty residents offer a sincere welcome to our friends and to those who are not familiar with the areas' rolling hills, vistas and other scenic attributes of New York's Southern Tier.

    We are creating these digital pages of information so our citizens may seek information such as, Village Codes, Municipal Meeting days/dates and time; ask questions of your Municipal leaders and Staff via the e-mail format or just tell us "What is on your mind". Information must be easy to retrieve and we believe this user friendly format will be useful to everyone.

    Our five members Board of Trustees welcome your insight and participation with the opportunities and obstacles in operating this community in the most fiscally responsible manner. We wish to improve infrastructure, tax base and attractions in our Village. With your comments and help - that will happen.
