Village of Newark Valley

The Nicholas Wilson Memorial Bike and Skate Park on Whig Street will get national attention when Nike holds their event, “Banksgiving”, at the park on Saturday, October 10th.  Nick Marzolino, a local BMX rider, entered and won Nike’s contest for a $4,000 custom made ramp, to be designed by Nate Wessel (designer for the X-Games).  When Nike found out the park is in memory of a fallen soldier, they decided to build more than just the ramp.  Their building crew will start work the week of October 5th to be ready for Banksgiving on the 10th.  Nike will be flying out their media crew and pro team riders for the event, and there will be food, contests and prizes.

I am pleased to announce that representatives from HGTV will be in the village most of the day this coming Sunday, September 6th. You may see us walking the village streets, as we are going to show them our village and why we are so very proud of our community. Don’t be shy, come and say hello.

This time of year, with lawns mowed and flowers bright, our area is just beautiful, so join us in showing them what we have. It is possible that a more numerous television crew may be here in early October, but at this time, we are not sure.

Solid waste bills were sent out for the period of October through December, and are due September 30th.  Please contact our office if you did not receive your bill.
