NEWARK VALLEY DAYS 2010
July 6th, 2010Come out and celebrate summer at the 2010 NEWARK VALLEY DAYS festival on August 13th and 14th.
Join us in the historic Village of Newark Valley on Friday, August 13th at the Train Depot starting at 7 PM where you can enjoy the high-energy sounds of Dixieland Jazz with the Ithaca Dixieland Band. The concert is free and you purchase delicious food prepared by the Newark Valley Historical Society too! Also check out fantastic car light displays at the Neon Glow Off at the NV Fire Station on Friday starting at dark.
On Saturday the 14th, enjoy activities at the Train Depot from 10:30-4 including face painting , games, shows, vendors and great food. Come help support our library and check out the book sale. There will be LOTS of books to browse through! Have fun dunking local celebrities at the Dunk Tank or ride the trackless train. Watch Mr. Beau the clown entertain children with magic and fun at 10:30 and listen to Night Sounds from 12-2. The Kirby Band will be at the Depot after the parade to play music for your entertainment.
The Newark Valley Fire Dept is having a chicken BBQ on Water Street across from NBT Bank starting around noon. You can also check out the car show at the Trout Ponds from 11-4 with a stereo contest at noon. There will be food and vendors at the Trout Ponds too. The annual parade starts at 2 PM (watch for a possible route change to Main Street!!) and then you can head back over to the Trout Ponds for more fun, food and ice cream. Try the giant Inflatable Obstacle course starting at 4:30 and listen to Sleepyhead from 7:30-9:30. Cap off the day with an exciting fireworks display at dusk.
The fireworks are supported totally by donations. To make a donation for the fireworks, make your check payable to Newark Valley Historical Society and send to the Newark Valley Historical Society, PO Box 222, Newark Valley, NY, 13811. The 2010 Newark Valley Days on August 13-14 will have lots of fun for the whole family with good food, activities for young and old, lots of music and of course a great hometown parade.
