Grievance Day – May 25th
May 20th, 2010The Board of Assessment Review examines complaints filed by residents during the formal grievance process pertaining to assessment of their home. Formal reviews are conducted annually on the fourth Tuesday in May.
Grievance Day for village and town residents of Newark Valley will be held on Tuesday, May 25th at the Newark Valley Town Hall at 109 Whig Street from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Assessment complaint applications are available at the Assessor’s office at the Town Hall, where the assessment roll can be viewed for information to assist in the application. The Town Office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Assessor, Christina Raison, is available Monday evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the second and fourth Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. It is advised that you meet with the Assessor prior to attending Grievance Day, as she may be able to adjust your assessment without the assistance of the Board of Assessment Review. The Assessor’s phone number is 642-8666.

Please note that a Special Village Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at
6:30 PM in the Noble Room at the Municipal Building, 9 Park Street, Newark Valley, NY, with the Village Board for the purpose of review of vacant properties.
