Information Update and Smullen Ave./Cook St. Paving

As we have tried to reach out to residents in a timely manner for a variety of reasons lately, we have found quite a few phone numbers and email addresses are outdated or incorrect. Please update them with us via email at info@newarkvalleyvillage.com, by phone at 607-642-8686, by mail, or stop in. We most recently had this issue while trying to contact residents about upcoming paving on Smullen Ave. and Cook St. We were just notified by our vendor that all of Smullen Ave. and Cook St. will be milled Thursday 8/27, beginning first thing in the morning and will be paved Friday 8/28. The roads will not be closed, but delays are expected. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Due to rising solid waste tipping fees and recycling fees from our vendors, the Village Board has deemed it necessary to increase residential garbage rates by 33 cents per week, or $4.00 per quarter. This increase will cover the cost of vendor tipping fees for garbage and the increased rate of recycling collection. The Village’s goal is to maintain optimal service for our residents at as low a cost as possible, but since our vendor has increased their prices, the Village, since it is the administrative passthrough, has to increase prices to maintain these services for our residents. This increase will take effect September 1, 2026. We appreciate your understanding. As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call the office at 607-642-8686.
