Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!! The Depot in Newark Valley, home to the Depot Friday Nights series, is adding a new venture this year, Concours D’Elegance.  Old-time and nearly old-time vehicles are invited to “Cruise- In” to the Depot on the first Saturday of each month from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM starting in June and continuing through September. Opening night will be June 1.  This “Cruise In” is NOT limited only to cars of a particular vintage; if it has wheels and you are proud of it, bring it down!  There is no charge and the public is encouraged to come.  Refreshments will be available–ice cream sundaes and banana splits are the specialty at the Depot. While you are there be sure to tour the 1800s railroad station and caboose. The waiting room is home to a historical review of the history of the wheel and the bicycle, compliments of the Newark Valley Town Historians.  This event promises to be lots of fun as we step back in time to a by-gone era of slower moving conveyances, while mingling with more modern modes of transportation, all the while enjoying the charming atmosphere of an 1800’s railroad depot.

Tioga County Commercial 0% Commercial Facade Improvement

Loan Program

Tioga County was awarded $250,000.00 from the Southern Tier Region Economic Development Corporation (STREDC).

The program provides 50% of total project cost with a 0% loan to assist in the prevention and elimination of slums and blight and encourages the revitalization of commercial buildings in Tioga County’s commercial  “Main Street” centers.

Eligible Use of Proceeds: Exterior facade renovations on design elements that are a structural part of eligible commercial buildings such as doors, windows, exterior refinishing and repairs, removal of non-original facades and rehabilitation of original facades, signage, awnings, attached lighting, decks and back façade along the river.

Application Fee:         $100.00 (non-refundable)

Commitment Fee:      1% of the approved loan amount

Available Financing:           $2,500.00 – $10,000.00

Interest Rate:          0% fixed

Term of Loan:             Up to 5 years as follows:

$2,500 – $5,000   - 2 years

                                                $5,000 – $7,000   - 3 years

                                                $7,000 – $10,000 – 5 years
